Surbiton To Host England Hockey League Finals Weekend
England Hockey is delighted to announce that Surbiton Hockey Club will host the 2023-24 Premier Division finals.
The season-defining event will showcase the elite level of domestic hockey in England with the top four teams from the England Men’s Hockey League and Women’s Hockey League descending on Surbiton for Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2024.
Finals weekend will see the culmination of a 21-match season where sides will compete in the semi-finals and final to be crowned Premier Division Champions with England’s places in the EuroHockey League also on the line.
Finals weekend returned last year and saw Old Georgians retain the Men’s Premier Division title while East Grinstead ended Surbiton’s eight-season spell of dominance of the Women’s Hockey League.
Rich Beer, England Hockey’s Sport and Development Director said “We are looking forward to working collaboratively with Surbiton HC once again to deliver a fantastic Finals weekend.
“Last year was a brilliant event with spine-tingling shootouts and high-quality hockey on display supported by the excellent organising team at Surbiton who provided the perfect welcome to fans and teams. Together we plan to build on last year making it a great weekend for fans of club hockey hosted at a fantastic club venue.”
Surbiton Club President, Andy Powdrell, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Finals Weekend at Surbiton in April. Club hockey has a very special role to play in bringing our sport closer to its fans and making it accessible to all, and we are really proud to have the opportunity to put on a great event for players, supporters and officials.
“With the Finals Weekend this year taking place after league hockey has concluded for other teams, we hope to welcome supporters from far and wide to see the top club sides in the country battle it out for domestic honours ahead of an exciting summer of international hockey.”
Further information regarding the schedule for the weekend and ticketing information will be released in the coming weeks.
