Supporting Hockey Futures At Saturday’s Fixtures
England Hockey are pleased to announce that we are supporting the charity Hockey Futures at the FIH Pro League Games against the Netherlands this Saturday 4 June.
Hockey Futures is a national charity that uses hockey to help children and young people have access to positive mental and physical health. They run outreach sessions, whether that’s on a concrete car park to a community hall at venues such as youth clubs or faith centres: they are all about using hockey for good and helping children and young people who face multiple hardship. Many of their players have never picked up a stick before.
The charity has an independent board of trustees and a small team, and they are also delivering a coach training programme for unemployed young adults and are hoping to set up a bursary by the end of the year so that no child has a financial barrier that stops them accessing this support.
As the country will be honouring the Queen’s Jubilee this weekend, Hockey Futures are asking everyone to join in the celebrations and wear something that commemorates the Jubilee. There will be several prizes for the best-dressed judged by some famous hockey faces. All we ask is that you join in the celebrations, cheer on the English teams and tag a photo of you or your friends in fancy dress to #HockeyFutures or @HockeyFuturesUK
Fidelis Navas, Director at Hockey Futures said, “With a historic royal weekend ahead of us, let’s join in with the whole county’s celebrations. The hockey family has a reputation of being fabulous at fancy dress and all of us at Hockey Futures can’t wait to see what everyone wears. And hopefully this will all add to creating a brilliant atmosphere to cheer on our teams.”
You’ll see various activities happening for Hockey Futures on the day, and if you want to know more about the charity, visit their website www.hockeyfutures.org and follow them at @HockeyFuturesUK on Twitter and Instagram.
The charity is reliant on donations and sponsorship to deliver activities, so if you think you might be able to help, please get in contact via @HockeyFutures on social or email admin@hockeyfutures.org. For more information see www.hockeyfutures.org.
