Old Georgians cemented their position at the top of the Men’s Premier Division with a comfortable 3-0 victory against East Grinstead.

James Carson broke the deadlock early on before Ashley Jackson scored from a penalty corner in the 42nd minute to extend their advantage.

And Tom Carson’s strike just four minutes later meant the leaders could see out the rest of the match comfortably and remain eight points clear at the top of the table.

Their closest rivals Wimbledon were also comfortable victors, with a 4-1 win over Hampstead & Westminster.

Ben Arnold put Wimbledon 1-0 up in the 25th minute and shortly afterwards it was 2-0, with Ed Horler doubling their advantage.

Liam Ansell added a third in the 53rd minute before Horler’s second put the game to bed, a late strike from Samuel French merely a consolation for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Holcombe closed the gap on third-placed Surbiton with a 3-0 win over them.

Strikes from Jake Owen, Jake Raben and Nick Bandurak did the damage, meaning just two points now separate the sides.

In the bottom five, University of Exeter picked up their first win of the season in remarkable style, winning 9-0 at Durham University.

Captain Max Lowery and Jacob Payton both scored twice, with Charles Taylor, Rhys Bradshaw, Ben Fox, Seb Ansley and Billy Collins also finding the net.

Oxted were also comfortable winners, picking up a 6-2 win over Brooklands Manchester University.

Sam Driver scored twice as they moved four points clear of Beeston, who were not in action.

Division One North

Loughborough Students remain top following a resounding 8-0 win over Cambridge City. However, University of Nottingham stay just a point behind them after securing a 4-2 win over University of Birmingham. Cardiff & Met were convincing winners, defeating Olton & West Warwickshire 6-0, while there were twists and turns in the relegation battle. City of Peterborough, the league’s bottom side, secured an important 2-0 win over Deeside Ramblers to move to within two points of safety. They remain at the foot of the table, however, after Sheffield Hallam earned a 3-1 win over Bowden on Saturday to leave Deeside Ramblers just a point above the relegation places.

Division One South

Leaders Reading won 6-3 at Old Cranleighan on Saturday to stay top on goal difference ahead of Canterbury, who beat Southgate 1-0. Team Bath Buccaneers are just two points further back after beating Havant 2-0. Havant lost twice this weekend, having fallen 3-2 to Teddington on Saturday, and still sit bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Teddington also played twice this weekend and backed up their win over Havant with a 2-1 triumph over Brighton & Hove. Meanwhile Sevenoaks were comfortable victors against Oxford Hawks, winning 3-1.

Conference East

Spencer’s promotion hopes received a blow as they were beaten 2-0 at Hampstead & Westminster 2s, who in turn climbed out of the relegation spots. Richmond leapfrogged Spencer into second courtesy of their 3-1 win at Bromley & Beckenham, who replace H&W in the bottom two, while Old Loughtonians now have a five-point lead at the summit following a 3-1 success of their own at West Herts. Indian Gymkhana edged a nine-goal thriller at London Edwardians while London Wayfarers eased past Wapping 4-1.

Conference Midlands

Barford Tigers remain three points clear of Harborne after both picked up weekend wins. The leaders defeated Khalsa Leamington 4-1 while Harborne were 2-1 victors at home to Harleston Magpies. Loughborough Town picked up four points from a successful weekend against two sides above them in the table, beating St Albans 1-0 and holding Lichfield to a goalless draw. University of Birmingham 2s missed the chance to climb out the bottom two as they drew 4-4 at Bedford.

Conference North

Just five points now separate the bottom five teams after Beeston 2s beat Leeds 2-1 to move level with second-bottom Alderley Edge, who were beaten 3-2 by Wakefield in Saturday’s game. University of Durham 2s, just two points clear of trouble, are looking nervously over their shoulders after going down 4-3 at Preston. At the top, Belper claimed an emphatic 4-0 win over third-placed Didsbury Northern to stay four points clear of Timperley, who beat Doncaster 5-4.

Conference West

The top two both enjoyed successful away days, University of Bristol winning 3-1 at Plymouth Marjon and Ashmoor coming away from Cheltenham with a 4-1 triumph. The University outfit remain three points clear while Isca are now third after beating University of Exeter 2s 5-0. Fareham slipped to fourth after a 2-1 defeat at Clifton Robinsons, who are now five points clear of safety. Chichester and Cardiff University played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.
