Hockey ID team announced for EuroHockey Championships
England Hockey has announced a team of 10 athletes that will compete in Germany for the EuroHockey ID Championships from 20 - 24 August in Mönchengladbach.
The team features four athletes that were part of the history-making team that won gold at the first inclusion at the Special Olympics World Games in June.
Five of the players also competed at the 2022 EuroHockey ID Championships where the team won gold.
There are also two debutants, Shane Crowe and Mudassar Ahmed Arshad, who will be looking to learn from the already successful team.
Head Coach Steve Bradley, said: “We are really looking forward to our next challenge, and really pleased that we have had the opportunity to welcome players into the squad from Waltham Forest HC.
“The squad is made up of players from four clubs, with two new players that have not represented England or GBR before. It will be another challenge for us all, but we know how well the squad have trained and how quickly they have developed over the last few months.
“Even though this is a much changed team from the one that won gold last summer, we are all looking forward to seeing them develop even further on and off the pitch.”
The squad was selected from players who play in the England Hockey Flyerz programme which is an adapted hockey programme which gives disabled people an opportunity to pick up a stick. If you’d like any more information about the programme please visit https://www.englandhockey.co.uk/play/flyerz
