Hampstead & Westminster HC clinch Bronze at Women's EuroHockey Club Trophy 2023 

Hampstead & Westminster HC had a memorable Easter weekend in Wettingen, Switzerland as they clinched the Bronze medal at the Women's EuroHockey Club Trophy. They defeated Ukraine's MSC Sumchanka 1-0 in the 3rd/4th Place playoff match. 

The Katherine Baker-led side registered two wins and a loss to finish second in Pool B. Beginning their campaign with a big 5-0 win over the home side HC Rotweiss Wettingen, before a loss 0-2 in their second game against the German club Mannheimer HC.  They bounced back with a comprehensive 12-0 win over the French side Iris Hockey Lambersart in their final Pool B match to secure the spot in the 3rd/4th place match. 

Grace Balsdon was the leading goal-scorer for Hampstead & Westminster in the tournament with five goals, including the lone goal in the bronze medal match against MSC Sumchanka. 
 

Surbiton narrowly miss out in Final8 quarter-final 

In the top tier of European competition, Surbiton’s women suffered a narrow 1-1 (1-3 SO) loss against the German club Düsseldorfer HC in their quarter-final match at the Euro Hockey League Final8 last weekend. 

Surbiton HC took the lead through their captain Steph Elliott's penalty corner conversion in the 16th minute but conceded the equaliser in the 48th minute of the match. In the shootout they only managed to convert one penalty, whilst Düsseldorfer converted three and proceeded to the semi-finals. 

In the 5th/7th Place classification match, Dutch side SCHC proved came out on top 3-1. Surbiton took the lead in the first quarter as Darcy Bourne converted a penalty stroke, but SCHC came back with three goals without reply to take the win.
