Girls Schools Finals Set To Return To Lee Valley Hockey And Tennis Centre After Two-Year Absence
After a two-year hiatus, more than 250 young hockey players travel to London this week for the Girls Schools Championships finals.
On Wednesday 2 March, eight teams battle it out at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in the Under 14 Tier 1 finals. The qualifiers are each Area winner and are split into two pools of four, with the top side in each pool playing against each other in the final.
Each match is 30 minutes long (split into two halves of 15 minutes), so with three pool matches and a final or play-off. The young girls will require strength, stamina and technical ability in a competitive environment.

The U16 Tier 1 final is the highlight of the day and sees Millfield and Repton looking to lift the title. In the Tier 2 - a Plate competition for those beaten in earlier round losers - Felsted take on Scarborough. The U18 Tier 1 competition is still in progress, and the U18 Tier 2 final features RGS Newcastle and Sevenoaks who have battled through six rounds to reach this stage. Eastbourne and Perse feature in the Tier 3 Plate final.
The games are a full 70 minutes as the young girls go into battle for these prestigious titles.
Having the chance to play at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre – the home of Great Britain and England’s women’s and men’s teams – is a great occasion for everyone involved, and we would like to wish all of the girls the very best of luck.
