Game Management System (GMS) Update - 20th September
We are very disappointed with the performance of GMS and appreciate the patience of all the clubs, volunteers and those involved in the game. Over the weekend the GMS was used for the first time for adult league matches in some of the new Areas around the country. Initially the system worked well for the first few hundred results but then unfortunately it slowed down to an unacceptable level.
There are a number of reasons behind this slowdown that are now being rectified. Primarily, the system is being moved to a much bigger hardware platform with much more capacity to improve GMS’s performance and speed. This will be completed during the week to ensure that many of the issues of this weekend are addressed.
Clubs do not need to register players at this stage, apart from teams in the England Hockey Leagues where it remains our intention at this stage to use the system from this weekend, but the EH Competitions Department will liaise directly with teams over final arrangements.
Area Leagues will communicate their expectations to clubs during the week around arrangements for the weekend. The leagues are meeting on Tuesday evening and will communicate with clubs later in the week.
We do realise and appreciate the extra time and efforts that have gone into the structural changes of the game, by so many across country in recent months, and we know the GMS has not yet delivered as we were all planning for it to do so. We are working hard to improve this with the vendor and that this week’s changes will improve performance for the upcoming weekend and we can look forward to the rollout of the full GMS system in the coming weeks.
