England Hockey Teams gear up for EuroHockey Championships 2023
Both England Men and Women's Hockey Teams are gearing up for the upcoming EuroHockey Championships, which are being held in Mönchengladbach, Germany in August 2023.
Having wrapped up their FIH Pro League 2022/23 season with Great Britain in June, the players have reported to their respective countries.
The EuroHockey Championships provide countries with the first opportunity to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and both the men’s and women’s teams will face tough competition for the first spots at the Games.
Drawn in Pool A, England Men's Team will face Austria, Belgium and Spain. They begin their campaign against Belgium on 20 August, then play Austria on next before facing Spain on August 23.
Meanwhile, the women's Team will face Germany, Ireland and Scotland in Pool B of the competition.
England Women will be up against Ireland in the tournament opener on August 18. They will then face Germany on August 20 before taking on Scotland in their last Pool stage match on August 22.
Top two finish in Pool stage will ensure a spot in the Semi-Final and the winners of the competition will directly qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Both teams have started preparing for the EuroHockey Championships at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.
Ahead of the Euros, they will take part in the 100th anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation-International Tournament in Terrassa, Spain from July 25-30. The women's team will face India, South Africa and hosts Spain, while men's team will take on India, the Netherlands and the home side in the four-nation tournament.
