The Curtain came down on another remarkable domestic season as the England Hockey Junior Club Championships for 2023 concluded with a total of 16 U18 and U16 titles confirmed over one exciting day at the Nottingham Hockey Centre.

U18 Girls Tier 1 Plate Final
Cambridge City HC Girls U18 beat Team Bath Buccaneers HC U18 Girls 5-0
Cambridge City Girls U18 registered a 5-0 win over Team Bath Buccaneers U18 Girls in the U18 Girls T1 Plate Final. Imogen Callaghan (6', 38') and May Busher (23', 59') each bagged a brace, while Jessica Tuff (36') scored a goal to help Cambridge earn a big win against Team Bath.
U18 Girls Tier 1 Cup Final
Surbiton HC U18 Girls T1 Cup beat Repton HC U18 Girls 5-2
In the U18 Girls T1 Cup Final, Surbiton earned a comprehensive 5-2 win over Repton. Isabella Baileff opened the scoring for Surbiton through Penalty Corner in the 8th minute. Gemma Townsend then doubled Surbiton's lead through a field goal in the 25th minute.
Repton started the second half brightly with a goal from Philippa Jowett's penalty corner in the 38th minute. But, Townsend (53') and Baileff (64') both went on to score their second goals to put Surbiton 4-1 ahead. Tilly Hinds did pull a goal back in an open play for Repton in the 66th minute, but Olivia Martin then scored a field goal on 67 minutes to seal the game for Surbiton.
U18 Girls Tier 2 Cup Final
Leeds HC U18 Girls beat Maidenhead HC Girls U18 5-1
In the U18 Girls T2 Cup Final, Leeds registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Maidenhead. Charlotte Henebury and Charlotte Graham's penalty corner goals in the 3rd and 31st minutes gave Leeds a double-goal lead in the first half. Leeds started the second half in a similar fashion as Beatrice Robson scored a brace in the span of five minutes as she found the net on 37 and 42 minutes. Umayah Zaman did get on the scoresheet for Maidenhead Girls in the 45th minute through a field goal. Before Rosie Robinson added Leeds' fifth goal to the tally in the 60th minute.
U18 Girls Tier 2 Plate Final
Olton & West Warwicks HC U18 Girls beat Barnes HC U18 Girls 5-0
Olton & West Warwicks registered a 5-0 win over Barnes in the U18 Girls T2 Plate Final. Millie Gidda netted twice in the 7th and 69th minutes of the match, while captain Jessica Cox (50'), Catrin Oswald (53') and Becca Stone (58') scored a goal each to help Olton & West Warwicks take home a big win.
U16 Girls Tier 2 Cup Final
Reigate Priory HC U16 Girls Polecats beat Bishop's Stortford U16 Girls 1-1 (3-0 SO)
The U16 Girls T2 Cup final between Reigate Priory and Bishop's Stortford ended in a thrilling penalty shootout. Reigate Priory Girls emerged victorious, thanks to the heroics of their goalkeeper Maddie Filer who stood tall to defend the first three penalty attempts from Bishop's Stortford. Ella Westley, Elise Whitley and Erinn Curnow-Baker were all on target in the penalty shootout for Reigate Priory.
In the regulation time, it was Bishop's Stortford who took the lead in the very first minute of the game through Gracie Cowan's field goal, but Bronwyn Tharp scored the much-needed equaliser in the 41st minute for Reigate Priory to take the game to a penalty shootout.
U16 Girls Tier 1 Cup Final
Knole Park HC U16 Girls beat City of York HC U16 Girls 6-2
Biba Mills was the undoubted star of the show as she scored all 6 goals for Knole Park. She converted five penalty corners in the 6th, 32nd, 50th, 69th and 69th minutes and a penalty stroke in the 68th minute. Meanwhile, for the City of York, Kate Barker got on the scoresheet. She converted two penalty strokes in the 8th and 48th minutes.
U16 Girls Tier 2 Plate Final
Southgate HC U16 Girls beat Stourport HC U16 Girls 6-3
Southgate registered a win over Stourport in the U16 Girls T2 Plate final. Southgate Girls took a 2 goal lead through field goals from Caroline Van Soest (2') and Edie Woodings (17'). However, Stourport equalised through penalty corner goals from Ruby Collins (23') and Bryony Gillgrass (29'). Freya Mathews then restored Southgate's lead in the 32nd minute, which was then extended by Woodings' remarkable strikes in the 34th and 35th minutes. In the second half, Madinson Faber scored the third goal for Stourport in the 43rd minute. Minutes later Mathews scored her second goal in the 50th minute to seal a 6-3 win for Southgate.
U16 Girls Tier 1 Plate Final
Teddington HC U16 Girls beat Havant HC U16 Girls 4-0
Teddington defeated Havant 4-0 in the U16 Girls T1 Plate final. Riley Flecker-Lister opened the scoring in the 16th minute, Darcy Bray scored the goal in the 44th minute, Pippa Sykes added a third in the 50th minute and Annika Golder added a fourth and final goal in the 63rd minute to seal a 4-0 win for Teddington U16.

U18 Boys Tier 1 Cup Final
Repton HC U18 Boys beat Old Loughtonians HC U18 Boys 3-1
Repton Boys U18 emerged as the winners of the U18 Boys T1 Cup following a hard-fought 3-1 win over Old Loughtonians U18 Boys. Repton managed took the lead in the first half as Sam Cossey converted the penalty corner in the 22nd minute of the match. Old Loughtonians started the second half strongly and scored an equaliser through Archie Crowley's field goal on 41 minutes. Repton’s boys took control of the game in the final quarter as they scored two goals in the final 10 minutes, with captain Harry Stone regaining the lead, followed by a third for George Fletcher.
U18 Boys Tier 2 Plate Final
Leeds HC U18 Boys beat Wycombe HC U18 Boys A 8-2
In the U18 Boys T2 Plate Final, Leeds U18s registered a comprehensive 8-2 win over Wycombe U18s. It was an intense start to the game as both teams scored a total of five goals in the first half. Wycombe drew the first blood through Jared Duggan's field goal in the 12th minute, but Leeds Boys responded with back-to-back goals in quick succession through penalty corner strikes from Jack Addison and Torrin Morton in the 18th and 22nd minutes respectively. Wycombe then scored an equaliser in the 29th minute through Harry Kerr's strike, but Fergus Lindley's penalty corner conversion on 33 minutes restored Leeds' lead at half-time.
In the second half Leeds then took the game away from Wycombe with five goals to clinch the title with an 8-2 win. Daniel Walker scored in the39th minute from an open play, while Lindley (55') and Morton (64') each went on to score their second goals of the match to put their team in a commanding position. Late on, James Jackson scored in the 67th minute from open play and Samuel Liversage converted the penalty corner in the 70th minute to cap off a big win.
U18 Boys Tier 1 Plate Final
Sutton Coldfield HC U18 Boys beat Reading HC U18 Boys 3-2
Sutton Coldfield U18s registered a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Reading U18s in the U18 Boys T1 Plate Final. Reading took an early lead through Harry Grinham who scored from an open play in just the 2nd minute of the game. They went on to double the lead through captain Billy White's field goal in the 28th minute. Trailing by two goals, Sutton Coldfield came back in the second half as they staged a remarkable comeback, courtesy of Oliver Brannen's brace (44', 66') and a goal from Matthew Cole (61').
U18 Boys Tier 2 Cup Final
North Stafford HC U18 Boys beat Eastbourne HC U18 Boys 4-2
North Stafford edged past Eastbourne 4-2 in the U18 Boys T2 Cup final. Dan Read (4', 38', 63') was the star of the show as he bagged a remarkable hat-trick with his penalty corner skills, while Oli Power also chipped in with a goal in the 56th minute for the winning side. Meanwhile, it was captain Guy Moore (15') and Ollie Loach (66') who scored a goal each for the Eastbourne Boys U18.
U16 Boys Tier 2 Plate Final
Manx HC U16 Boys beat Hampton in Arden HC U16 Boys 6-1
In the U16 Boys T2 Plate Final, Manx registered an emphatic 6-1 win over Hampton in Arden. Kyle Gunnion opened the scoring through a penalty corner in the 13th minute and Leo Plass extended the lead in the 24th minute for Manx. Alex Andrew then went on to score two goals for Manx on 46 and 50 minutes and Josh Dougal added the fifth goal in the 52nd minute to make it 5-0. Meanwhile, captain Ryan Bennett pulled one back for Hampton in Arden in the 57th minute before Leo Plass closed the game in the 69th minute with his second goal for Manx to make the final score 6-1.
U16 Boys Tier 1 Cup Final
Trojans HC U16 Boys beat Guildford HC U16 Boys 5-2
Trojans defeated Guildford 5-2 in a game that saw the lead switch between teams several times. Trojan Boys took the lead through Charlie Cook in the 10th minute, but Guildford responded with two goals through captain Louis Powell and Jamie Farris's penalty corner conversions in the 12th and 27th minutes to finish the first half with a slender 2-1 lead. Trojans Boys dominated the second half and scored four goals. Cook completed his hat-trick by scoring two goals in quick succession making the scoreline 3-1. Ben Salisbury (55') and then Edward Emmerson (60') each scored field goals to seal a 5-2 victory for Trojans.
U16 Boys Tier 2 Cup Final
Bromley and Beckenham HC U16 Boys beat Ashby HC Boys U16 7-1
Bromley and Beckenham registered a decisive 7-1 win over Ashby in the U16 Boys T2 Cup Final. Callum Howie (20', 52', 68') starred with a fine hat-trick as he converted a penalty corner and scored two field goals, while James Clark scored a brace (18', 67') and Toby Debson (25') and Teo Holmes (70') contributed a goal each for the winning side. Meanwhile, Ben Kendall (35+') pulled one goal back for Ashby.
U16 Boys Tier 1 Plate Final
Old Georgians HC U16 Boys Dragons beat Cheltenham HC U16 Boys 3-2
Old Georgians edged past Cheltenham 3-2 in a thrilling final of U16 Boys T1 Plate. After a goalless first half, Old Georgians broke the deadlock through Freddy Scott-Gall's field goal in the 44th minute and doubled the lead through captain Harry Cooper's penalty corner goal in the 56th minute. Cheltenham then came back with two goals through Jonty Friend's penalty stroke in the 61st minute and Lucas Preece's strike in the 63rd minute. However, it was Old Georgians who finally got the better of Cheltenham as Alec Clayton-Jones made no mistake in converting the penalty corner in the 69th minute to help his team win the closely contested match.

U16 Girls
Eight teams in the Girls category battled it out for top honours at the Supra League Finals held on April 22 and 23.
In Pool A, it was City of York U16 Girls A who topped the table, while Trojans Girls U16 A finished second, Beeston U16 Girls finished secured third and Teddington U16 Girls finished in fourth place.
Surbiton U16 Girls Pioneers topped Pool B, while Marlow U16 Girls secured second, Sutton Coldfield U16 Girls came third and Alderley Edge U16 Girls finished in fourth place of the points table.
FINAL - Surbiton U16 Girls beat City of York U16 Girls 3-0
Surbiton U16 Girls Pioneers emerged as the winner of the tournament as they beat City of York U16 Girls A 3-0 in the Final. Noa Armelin (22'), captain Josie Roux (28') and Emilia Pitts (50') scored a goal each for the winning side.
3rd/4th Playoff - Marlow U16 Girls beat Trojan Girls U16 A 2-1
In the 3rd/4th place playoff match, Marlow U16 Girls edged past Trojan Girls U16 A 2-1 to clinch the third position. Marlow captain Martha Goodridge opened the scoring in the 9th minute, but Trojans' captain Sophie Kent equalised in the 35th minute. It was Emma Buxton who scored the winner in the 48th minute for Marlow.
5th/6th Playoff - Beeston U16 Girls beat Sutton Coldfield U16 Girls 6-1
In the 5th/6th place playoff match, Beeston U16 Girls registered a comprehensive a 6-1 win Sutton Coldfield U16 Girls. Antonia Tommasi (7', 16', 45') starred with hat-trick, while captain Ruby Gorin (29', 38') scored a brace and Matilda Bentley (36') scored a goal for Beeston. Preeth Kaur (50') scored the solitary goal for Sutton Coldfield.
7th/8th Playoff - Teddington U16 Girls beat Alderley Edge U16 Girls 2-0
In the 7th/8th place playoff match, Teddington U16 Girls beat Alderley Edge U16 Girls 2-0. Emily Cane (5') and Annika Golder (18') got on the scoresheet for the winning side.

In the Boys Pool C, Trojans Boys U16 A topped the table, while Cambridge City U16 Boys finished second, Guildford U16 Boys settled for third and Harrogate U16 Boys came fourth.
Hampstead & Westminster emerged as the winners of Pool D, Cheltenham U16 Boys secured second, while Brooklands MU U16 Boys and Old Loughtonians U16 Boys finished third and fourth in the pool stage.
FINAL - Trojans Boys U16 A beat Hampstead & Westminster 3-3 (4 - 3 SO)
Trojans Boys U16 A edged past Hampstead & Westminster 3-3 (4 - 3 SO) in the thrilling Final. Both teams were locked at a 3-3 stalemate at the end of the regulation time, courtesy of goals from Sam Hargreaves (10', 36') and Draysey Kaden (39') for Trojans; and Captain Max Griffiths (15', 48') and Freddy Pettifer (18') for Hampstead & Westminster. Even in the shootout they were locked in at 3-3 but it was Trojans who got better of their opponents as Kaden converted his attempt and their goalkeeper Archie Chapman-Sheath stood tall to Lucas Smart from scoring in the sudden death.
3rd/4th Playoff - Cambridge City U16 beat Cheltenham U16 Boys 0-0 (4-2 SO)
In the 3rd/4th place playoff, Cambridge City U16 Boys held their nerves to beat Cheltenham U16 Boys 4-2 in the shootout. After playing out a goalless draw in the regulation time, Cambridge converted all four of their chances through Barney Turner, Oliver Sawtell, Ethan Smythe and William Anderson, while their goalkeeper Rory Jones stood tall in denying William Waltham and Henry Marsden from scoring in Cheltanham's third and fourth attempt in the shootout, this securing the third place with 4-2 shootout win.
5th/6th Playoff - Guildford U16 Boys beat Brooklands MU U16 Boys 5-3
In the 5th/6th place match, Guildford U16 Boys defeated Brooklands MU U16 Boys 5-3. Both the teams scored their first goal in the 7th minute, Alex Thompson scored for Guildford and Ali Coombe scored for Brooklands. Guildford restored the lead in the 18th minute through Jamie Farris but Fred Davies scored an equaliser for Brooklands in the 22nd minute. Keagan Turnbull (23') and Kyle Turnbull (25') scored two goals in quick succession to give Guildford 4-2 lead at the end of the first half. Josh Baxendell did pull a goal back for Brooklands in the 46th minute, but Ollie Gibson scored Guildford's fifth and the winning goal in the 49th minute.
7th/8th Playoff - Harrogate U16 Boys beat Old Loughtonians U16 Boys 7-6
In the 7th/8th placing match, Harrogate U16 Boys earned a thrilling 7-6 comeback win over Old Loughtonians U16 Boys. Old Loughtonians were leading 4-1 at the end of the first, but it was captain Harry Montague (20', 47', 50') who led the team's fightback by scoring a remarkable hat-trick, and Fergus Brown (26', 44') and Aaron Brompton (31', 41') each scored a brace to help Harrogate edge past their opponents. Meanwhile, for Old Loughtonians Sam Bond (6', 11', 24') scored a hat-trick, James O'mally-Kumar (16', 49') netted twice and Fraser Forbes (37') scored a goal.

Alderley Edge U14 Girls beat City of York U14 Girls 3-2 in T1 Plate Final
Alderley Edge U14 Girls emerged as the winners of the T1 Plate Final with a 3-2 win over City of York U14 Girls. Summer Newman (5'), Poppy Vernon (21') and captain Sophie Clift (41') scored goals for the winning side, while Georgina Royce (2') and captain Cora Seth (62') got on the scoresheet for City of York.
East Grinstead U14 Girls beat Timperley U14 Girls 5-2 in T2 Plate Final
East Grinstead U14 Girls registered a 5-2 win over Timperley U14 Girls in the T2 Plate Final. Daisy Maclay (45', 61') starred with a brace, while Sophia Jeffery (3'), Emilia Singer (34') and Jennifer Klein (68') contributed a goal each for East Grinstead. Orla Mawby (59') and Evelise Scott (70') were the goal scorers for Timperley.

In the T1 Cup Final, Surbiton U14 Girls emerged as the winners as they registered a monumental 8-2 win over Beeston U14 Girls. Amelie Carter (24', 34', 69') bagged a fine hat-trick, while team captain Monica Alcover (43', 46') netted twice and Isla Perkins (18'), Scout Craggs (31') and Kitty Mumford (55') contributed a goal each for Surbiton. While for Beeston Lucy Carr (4'0 and Carleyna Wright (58') got on the scoresheet.
Marden Russets U14 Girls beat Ashby U14 Girls 2-2 (1 - 2 SO) in T2 Cup Final
The T2 Cup Final between Marden Russets U14 Girls and Ashby U14 Girls ended in a thrilling shootout. Marden Russets U14 Girls emerged victorious, thanks to the heroics of their goalkeeper Charlotte Slaughter who made as many as four saves off Ashby's five attempts. Sydney Webster and Florence Lawson were the ones who converted chances for Maden Russets.
Meanwhile, in the regulation time, Georgina Garrow (20', 45') netted twice for Maden Russets and for Ashby Sophie (38') and Hermione Harewood (57') got on the scoresheet.

Canterbury U14 Boys beat Beeston U14 Boys 4-2 in the T1 Plate Final
Will Upton's (16', 53', 68') hat-trick and a goal from Hugo Fassum (55') helped register 4-2 win over Beeston U14 Boys 4-2 in the T1 Plate Final. Isaac Poyser (1') and Captain Joshua Beer (51') scored a goal each for Beeston.
Guildford U14 Boys beat Braintree Blue Hornets U14 Boys 10-1 in the T2 Plate Final
Guildford U14 Boys registered a massive 10-1 win over Braintree Blue Hornets U14 Boys in the T2 Plate Final. Arthur Bache (12', 39', 48', 69') was the star of the show as he scored as many as four goals, while Tom Probert (5', 33', 35') scored three, Oscar Farhan (50', 56') netted twice and Jacob Moore (67') scored a goal for Guildford. Zachary Johnson (45') scored the lone goal for Braintree Blue Hornets.
Belper U14 Boys beat Wimbledon U14 Boys 4-1 in the T1 Cup Final
In the T1 Cup Final, Belper U14 Boys defeated Wimbledon U14 Boys 4-1. Edward Wilkins (8', 14') scored two goals, while Dominic Marval (35') and Oscar Caton (35') scored a goal each for Belper. Philip Ellingshorst (17') scored the solitary goal for Wimbledon.

In the T2 Cup Final, Hampstead & Westminster U14 Boys earned a big 6-2 win over North Norfolk U14 Boys. Captain Lewis Papworth (51', 66') led from the front as he scored two goals, Jack Fadel (14'), Sammy Michel (22'), Philipp Heinlein (34'), and Prasad Sahil (63') chipped in with a goal each for Hampstead & Westminster. Luca Newbury (18', 34') was the lone goal-scorer for North Norfolk.
