Darcy Bourne Replaces Flora Peel in Women's World Cup Squad

England’s Flora Peel has unfortunately picked up an injury in the build-up to the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup, and will be replaced in the squad by Darcy Bourne.

Flora suffered an injury in preparation for the Pool games in the Netherlands, and Darcy steps up from her role as travelling reserve. East Grinstead's Alex Malzer is flying out to now fill one of the reserve roles. The news is of course very unfortunate for Flora as she misses out on her first World Cup at this late stage.

20-year-old Darcy comes into the full squad on the back of an excellent season with Surbiton, finishing top scorer of the Vitality Hockey Women’s Premier Division with 19 goals as her team won the national title. She already has seven England caps to her name, scoring twice.

England play their first Pool game against India on Sunday at 3:30pm UK time, live on BT Sport. Their next matches are against New Zealand and China on Tue 5 and Thu 7 respectively.
