Change Starts Together Conference Wrap up
On Tuesday 2 November 2021 we hosted our first #ChangeStartsTogether conference. We had over 125 different clubs sign up as well as many people from umpiring, areas, schools, leagues and even other hockey federations, it was a fantastic start to our series.
The conference began with England Hockey’s newest campaign video to help break down barriers in hockey.
We believe hockey is an inclusive sport and it is our responsibility to ensure that you as players, coaches, umpires, clubs and organisations have the tools and resources to enable you to allow everyone to participate in our incredible sport.
The evening continued with host Ben Cajee introducing the conference and taking us through the key points of the event.
The agenda for the evening included hearing from CEO of England Hockey Nick Pink about the current position of the sport and what we have been doing, a clear definition of what Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is, Vitality spoke about their views, and we shared the findings from our More Inclusive Sport Survey.
See the findings here.
We were proud to announce the new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group chaired by ED&I board sponsor Angela Durnin. You can see all who are involved here.
You can keep up to date with all things ED&I here and find news stories here.
The conference was recorded and will be available to watch from Friday 12 November 2021.
We will continue to host more in the future with the second instalment being Tuesday 22 February 2022, which will follow the launch of England Hockey’s ED&I Action plan.
Thank you to everyone involved and we can’t wait to take this journey with you.
