Ipswich Hockey Club Women’s 1st Team is looking for a passionate head coach. The team secured a top 4 finish in East Premier Division this season 2025-2026 season and have ambitions to regain promotion to National League.

If you can answer YES to the questions above, then you could be the coach or player-coach we are looking for.

Depending on the candidate there could also be other coaching opportunities at local schools and internally at the club, especially in our flourishing junior section.

Job description

Our season runs from September to April, with pre-season normally starting in July/August.

The role involves:

o Pre-Season (starting in July/August)

o 2 Training sessions per week.

o All Saturday match days (may be some Sunday games weather/league dependent)

o Possibly the Indoor season depending on candidate’s experience (December & January)

This would ideally be a longer-term appointment with a yearly review at the end of every season. The appointed person will be expected to fulfil all the duties of a Head coach. This includes but is not limited to:

• Plan and deliver training sessions suitable for a team with ambitions to play in the National League

• Take part in weekly club and team selection

• Player management

• Deliver team tactics

• Video analysis (as applicable)

• Liaise with parents of U18

• Work with an Assistant Coach (as applicable) and Manager

• Travel with the team to all games

• Player recruitment

• Squad fitness

• Work alongside other club coaches

We will also consider the possibility of a Player/Coach for the right candidate.

You will need a minimum UKCC England Hockey Sessional Coach qualification or equivalent and be eligible to work in the UK (UK passport or valid work permit) and speak a good standard of English.

Experience of coaching at a high level is desirable, as is working with a variety of players and developing juniors.

This is a paid position with remuneration to be confirmed based upon qualifications, experience and the final role(s) agreed upon.
