South Berkshire Hockey Club Cantley Park, Wokingham
SHARE

South Berkshire Hockey Club is looking for First Team coaching candidates for the 24/25 season.

Based at Cantley Park, Wokingham, South Berks is a growing hockey club looking to offer excellent hockey in a competitive region. In recent years our Men’s 1s have earned and maintained a place in South Central Prem 1, and similarly our Ladies’ 1s have risen to Prem 2 and finished 4th in the league at their first attempt. Elsewhere in the club we’ve expanded our number of adult teams to six men’s and six ladies’ sides for 24/25, and junior membership is up 13% year to year. In May our efforts to push the club onwards were recognised with the title of England Hockey Club of the Year 23/24.

This summer we are looking to add an experienced performance coach to our roster of coaches to support our continued growth. Due to the flexibility of the coaches we currently have in place, this could be a Men’s or Ladies’ first team coach position depending on experience and the coaching goals of an appropriate candidate. Responsibilities include leading first team training, influencing squad selection and managing the team on match days. You would also be working closely with the respective section club captain, first team captain, and second team leadership to help improve our performance squads and assist with the development of young players. Strong candidates would have experience coaching at regional prem level or higher, and would be open to joining a multi-year project.

For this position we would be asking for commitment to the below responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a pre-season training programme which would include goal setting, training sessions and friendlies.
  • Run engaging and appropriately challenging training sessions with the aim to develop and strengthen the squad.
  • Coordinate with other coaches and captains to select the squads with both team performance and individual development in mind.
  • Work with coaches and club leadership to ensure development throughout the club and to attract new players.
  • Monitor performance, commitment and provide feedback on a team and individual level.
  • Travel with the team on Saturdays to manage gameplay and adapt tactics to achieve positive results.

Due to the fact that pre-season is fast approaching, if you think you may be interested or have questions regarding the club or the role(s), please feel free to get in touch at your earliest convenience.
