Bowdon Hockey Club Ladies 1st Team Assistant Coach.

Bowdon Hockey Club are looking for an assistant coach for season 2025-26. The Ladies 1st Team currently play in the English Premier League and have reached the Phase 3 play-offs in the previous two seasons. This is a very exciting period across the women’s section and club overall. This is an opportunity for an experienced and ambitious coach to join this Premier League team within a successful, vibrant and social hockey club. 

 

The role reports to the L1s Head Coach and will assist in the following: 

 

·       Player selection process.

·       Planning, organising and running of training sessions.

·       Pre-game preparation including team talks.

·       In-match input under the direction of the Head coach.

·       Scouting and evaluation of opponents.

·       Assist in the formulation of game plans.

·       Coaching the squad in all games and practices.

·       Supporting strength and conditioning programmes.

·       Supporting the head coach in performance analysis.

·       Working to create a professional and safe culture with shared goals and standards.

 

Personal attributes:

 

·       Strong background in playing and coaching. Including playing styles, game plans, player and team development.

·       Strong knowledge of hockey including the latest developments.

·       Ability to work with other coaching staff.

·       Desire to learn and progress as a coach within the performance set-up at the club.

·       High degree of personal and professional integrity.

·       Tact and diplomacy balanced with the capability to make decisions.

·       Ability to deal with sensitive matters while maintaining confidentiality and meeting strict and established protocols.

·       Engender respect from athletes, officials, club members and others involved in the sport.

 

Time commitment:

 

·       Two training sessions per week (Monday & Wednesdays) beginning in August 2025 through to April/May 2026.

·       Pre-season trips.

·       Saturday matches which include Friday night stays where required.

·       Commitment to the indoor programme (to be agreed with the Head Coach).

·       Attend team, leadership or coaching meetings as required.

 

Renumeration:

 

·       Commensurate with experience.
