What happens in the England Age Group programme?
The England Age Group Programme is for the England U16 and U18 girls and boys squads and is the highest honour available for a junior hockey player.
Selected players attend training camps and play international matches often involving overseas travel. Players are exposed to professional advice on topics including anti-doping, nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury management and psychology. The first part of the programme is an assessment period from September -January, following which some players may not continue. The full England Age Group Programme runs from February-July.
