What is the Centralised Calendar?
It is widely recognised that there are many pressures placed on the time of a hockey player, many of which exist within the sport itself. The Centralised Calendar is a way of trying to make sense of all the conflicts that could occur. It is a centralised document which highlights, for any given week, or day within that week, in a year, what activity should be given priority over others e.g. should a talented junior represent their club in the Club Championship match on a particular date, or should they attend their County (Academy Centre) training
The calendar is developed in draft form about 7 months ahead of it then being released for a particular period, and then confirmed a 2-3 months later (usually around March/April ahead of the dates commencing in July).
