My child is not the minimum age for doing a workshop, what can they access?
For our courses there are a few pre-requisites to attend, this is to ensure that all people attending have the best chance of maximising the learning experience by coming with similar prior knowledge and experience.
One of the key pre-requisite is prior knowledge of the GB Coaching Strategy and the Golden Thread. The course will focus on taking and building on this knowledge through embedding it across different principles of the game. This will be both through whole group discussions, and small break out rooms, so if learners are not aware of this then they will struggle.
As a result we recommend you first attend one of the following workshops to help embed and develop this knowledge:
- Intro to Hockey Coaching – great for those first starting out on their coaching journey, either coaching juniors or seniors
- Engaging Games For Children – recommended if you coach junior players
- Coaching For Club Players - recommended if you coach senior players
- Practice Design – focuses on both senior and juniors and how to plan and deliver fun and engaging sessions linked to the different principles of the game.
If you feel you have accessed other experience or learning that will make you suitable to access a Course without first attending a “How” Workshop, please feel free to challenge the pre-requisite through within the “Manage Booking” options, by clicking on the three horizontal dots to the right of the screen and “Appeal Pre-Requisites”
