My child is left-handed, do they need a specific stick?

All hockey sticks are the same for left-handed and right-handed players. Hockey is played generally with two hands on the stick, so left and right handed players play the same. Sometimes people play with only one hand (when going for a longer reach) and in this situation it will be the left hand on the stick - so ultimately right handed people actually have to adapt more to play hockey as they need to learn to use their left hand more than their right.

Regular play is usually with the ball on the right of the body (which would be the only difference to playing golf or cricket for example when a left handed would expect the ball on their left), but there is no reason why a left handed player can't dribble the ball on the left side of their body, it would just take them to use the same skill as a right handed player would need to do to control the ball on the left side of their body e.g. turning the stick over.
