Welcome to the England Hockey Domestic Masters section.
There are a number of long defined club competitions for domestic Masters hockey covering both men and woman teams in the UK that have been running for a number of years for a number of different age groups. Each year sees an increase in the number of club teams being entered on a year on year basis that demonstrates that master’s hockey is on the increase in the UK.
2009 saw the pilot of a European Cup weekend tournament for clubs at Over 40 level (where the 2008 Cup winners, Ipswich, represented England. This is likely to expand to other age groups and Lady Master’s hockey over time). The winners of the 2010/2011 O40 competition (Ipswich) will represent England in the 2011/2012 Masters European Cup tournament.
In the South and South East of England in particular, a number of self contained men’s Masters leagues such as the London League and the Wessex Masters Leagues are well established as a 'next career stage' for maturing players while in other areas of the country the development of Masters and Lady Masters leagues is being encouraged and supported.
