Match Report

Winchester became champions of the Men's 2nd XI Trophy for the first time after a convincing 5-0 win over Woking, despite being in the league below.
Winchester captain Ken Boniface lead the team straight out of the starting blocks with an early break which set the tone for the game but it was Hugh Barnes who opened the scoring after 9 minutes from open play. Woking nearly got back level soon after but a reverse stick shot was well saved by Ed Heathcock in the Winchester goal. Woking did manage to get the ball in the net but the goal was disallowed as the ball came off a Woking foot. A goal a piece for Winchester's Rob Ritchie and Sam Hibberd meant that the score at half time was 3-0.

Woking were hoping that a strong home crowd would inspire a comeback in the second half as seen by Sheffield Hallam in the Men's 2nd XI Cup. However, it wasn't to be as Winchester added a further two goals in the second half. First, Richard Jones scored from the penalty spot on 50 minutes and then Kent Langdridge scored in the remaining seconds  to ensure that the Trophy went home with manager Max Gayler.
