There are a number of competitions available to men’s clubs affiliated to EHB. These take place throughout the season on designated Sundays with teams drawn either home or away. They culminate in a finals day when a number of finals are all held at one venue.
At the top level is the Men’s Cup. This is open to all affiliated clubs and offers the smallest clubs in the country the opportunity for giant killing against the top teams from the Men’s England Hockey League.
The Men’s Trophy and Men’s Vase competitions offer the opportunity for 1st XIs outside of the England Hockey League League and the Premier Divisions of the five Regional Leagues to play against teams of a similar level to themselves. The Trophy is for 1st XI teams higher up the hockey “league pyramid”, the Vase for smaller clubs.
There are also national contests available for the 2nd XIs of clubs with a cup competition for the 2nd XIs of teams in the England Hockey League and a trophy competition for all other club’s 2nd XIs.
There are also competitions for clubs’ more senior players with Over 40s and Over 50s Cup competitions. Early round losers in these competitions also get the chance to play in Plate competitions.
